- the fire brigade was based in the building opposite the school, which belonged to the Sawyer’s, but has now been converted into a bungalow [unknown if this was the NFS fire station or an earlier one]
- brigade formed 1895. Reference to a Fire Engine House in July 1931
- in 1940 the Rural District Council still thought Box Fire Brigade a viable parish unit and purchased its facilities, engine shed [Box old fire station 2??] and equipment less the now ancient Manual which was sold as scrap for £2 and 5 shillings. The now re-vitalised Brigade with a Beresford Trailer Pump and a mass of small gear was ready for action under the authority of the Rural District Council. [article shows ATV, TrP & crew, NFS station 39-A 2-W]

- "Kennny Rickson lived across the road from the school in the houses that are at a right-angle to the road. His path went down past the Box Fire Station, which was pulled down. (I see there's a little bungalow there now)." |
